you know what keeps me up at night is that like. Jude heard Cardan, a fae who cannot lie, say "i think about you often and i can't stop" and that bitch went "nah you know what? i don't believe you" and proceeded to require physical proof of his claim, in the form of kissing that mf straight on the mouth.

she is either denser than we ever thought when it comes to Cardan's attraction for her, or she was already in much deeper for him than she even knew.

I think that kiss was supposed to be a power play over cardan (which it totally was— poor cardan was completely lost to jude after that) but it totally backfired because i think whether she wanted to admit it or not, jude lost herself a little to cardan in that moment too (maybe even more than a little)

oh it absolutely was a power play.

it's why Jude had to threaten Cardan with a crossbow at the same time as she was kissing him. to be sure she had the upper hand. when she threw down the crossbow, it was a silent admission of her own unrealised feelings. which is why Cardan laughed. because he realised that, despite herself, Jude was attracted to him, too. which meant that they were, on some level, in the very same boat: attracted to each other and flabbergasted about it.

things can be multiple things at once, and this scene has so many layers.

YOU GET ME 😤🤝 it’s both, it’s all of it, it’s everything!! Jude is dense as fuck and the smartest person in Elfhame and she has one single brain cell which she shares only occasionally with Cardan and she is also an evil mastermind genius.
